Just wanted to update you all about our North Carolina trip. We went this past weekend to take care of some business and to see the house that we are renting. I am happy to report that we like it overall. The bedrooms are a little small but they will do. The house has a lot more storage space than our current house which is great because my husband and I have a lot of stuff. The yard is huge and I think the dogs will love it. I like the quiet neighborhood.
Some things that we do not like but hopefully will be fixed by the time we get there include the house needing to be painted. It was built in 1999 which is older than our house but that doesn't bother me. It just needs to be painted. The owners say they will paint, pressure wash the outside of the house and driveway, and work on the landscaping before we move in. I hope they stick to their word because these are the main things that I don't particularly like right now.
I know that we are just renting and we will only live in it for 2 years but I like a well kept home (inside and out). My husband and I joke that we will probably take better care of it than the owners. I'll definitely make sure the inside stays immaculate and my husband will take care of the yard work.
It was good seeing the house. In my true OCD planning/organizing self I've been typing up a word document about how I want each room set up (the color scheme included). OK, don't judge me. LOL. There's a reason for that. Once we move, I will only have about 1 week to decorate the house before starting work. I have to make sure that the majority of the house is set up or else it wont get done once I start working.

We are looking forward to grilling out on the deck |
Anyway we like it and we look forward to making it our home for the next 2 years.

I'm glad you got the house. It looks very quaint and cozy. I'm sure you'll really enjoy the deck. If you're like us, during the summer months especially we are grilling about 85% of the time so it's nice to have that space to really be able to sit out, cook and enjoy the nice weather.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will take care of the house much more than the owners do because, well, let's face it - rental properties are rental properties. My uncle has 7 investment properties (5 in Texas and 2 in OK) and he always says "I only spend money on things that absolutely need to be done." - so if you're not living there, you just don't care as much about the appearance as someone who actually is. Can't wait to see what you do to the inside. Looks like you guys may need a riding mower though with all that land :) The dogs will love it, but will your husband? hahah j/k. I only say that because we have a large (for the area) lot and recently fired our service and purchased our own electric push mower. The husband hates mowing...so guess who is out there??? (thumbs pointing to me). LOL I don't mind I guess...it's exercise, right?
Congrats again and good luck getting all moved in. :)
Nice house. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful house and I'm sure you will be able to turn it into a home. I hate moving but I love setting up a house to make it my own...pictures and other favorite family tokens! The deck looks nice too perfect for grilling in the summer time. Can't wait to see how your new home turns out. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you like the house! I know it will feel like home once you get all your stuff there and arranged. I think the house is very cute! (I'm still sad our friends are moving though!)

The house looks beautiful, hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThe house looks great. I'm glad you are so type A about it. You will get so much done so much quicker with a list for each room. Good for you to have them paint. It's great to move in to a fresh new space! Good luck with the move lady!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful house!
ReplyDeleteI've been to North Carolina many times, but I've only been to a few cities (Charlotte was my favorite). Congrats on your new home, and I'm sure these will be some wonderful two years :)
The house looks beautiful. By the way hello. I am new to your blog, blogging. Would soon be moving out of state to Northern VA, but would be renting for a while until we decide on home purchase. Hope you and your family enjoy the privacy of a house.
ReplyDeleteBig, beautiful home! This is definitely a breath-taker (especially in terms of yard space and how big the house is) compared to the tinier homes we've been looking to buy here in California. You guys are going to have so much fun there, grilling and hanging out together with new friends. Very cozy.
