Blessing in disguise

Yesterday was such a blessing.  Remember in my last post I mentioned that my camera was no longer working.  I was so disappointed that I could not capture pictures of some of the holiday events.   Anyway, I told my hubby about the camera and he reminded me that we have a 2 year replacement plan on it.  We went back to Best Buy yesterday and walked out with a brand new camera for free (with all the accessories and all).  So of course I wanted a digital SLR and was hoping that we could get one yesterday and pay the difference but we couldn't afford it.  Or at least we thought it wasn't wise to get one at this time.  It will remain on my wish list for now.  If you have any ideas/advice about a reasonable priced digital SLR for an amateur please send them my way.

The first picture I took with my new camera was a picture of some cross training sneakers I saw in the store that I'll probably buy online (hopefully for cheaper).  Of course we also took some photos of the doggies and kitty.  Mr. K and I also took our "before" pictures since we both will be starting the Insanity workout videos.  Actually we both did the Fit Test this morning which was tough.  I'm excited about it though and I plan to Dig Deeper.  By the way, I wanted to mention that I found out about Insanity through a fellow blogger Motivation Mama Drama.  I also want to thank her for being so positive and for motivating me to attempt Insanity.

  1. Yay you got a new camera and accessories for FREE!! Woo-Woo! I always wonder when I purchase electronics if I should get the warranty, but I have learned (the hard way) that it is definitely worth it! I know its not the one you wished for, but its something in the meantime that you didn't have to pay for!!
OMG Insanity, Its so awesome that you are doing it w/ someone, it'll keep you guys motivated! Do blog about your journey "digging deeper" with Shawn T!! He does not play around from what I see of the videos!! I want to lose a few lbs and get into decent shape b4 I try Insanity, because from what I hear, its not for the weak! Have a great week!!

  3. That's awesome! I need an upgrade too. Mine is one drop away from not working (and I know this because I have dropped it several times - from small heights - and the darn thing popped opened and stopped working. Nice.
I too would love a slr camera. They are pretty pricey, so there they sit on my wish list too :).
BTW you are insane for trying Insanity. lol. I did the p90x before I got pregnant, and oh boy was it a butt kicker. Goodluck! Keep us posted.

  4. Congrats on getting the new camera! Mine also broke a while ago but we have the Digital Canon EOS Rebel XTi which is a professional camera to also use. I love it but when you just want to take quick party shots or take pics at the park of the kids, it gets a little bulky.

But I would HIGHLY recommend the Rebel. A lot of budding professionals start out with it.

And good luck on the Insanity, too! :)

  7. Great alternative to a professional camera. I agree with Rania. The professional cameras take great pics but it is bulky.

The Mr. has a Cannon Rebel XS and I have a Nikon D3000. I just have the lens that comes with it but I feel limited and would like to upgrade the lens sometime in the future.

Good Luck and keep us posted. Can't wait to see some pics from the new camera!
Wow, I checked out Motivation Mama Drama's blog. Very Inspiring!

  10. that's so wierd cuz the same thing happened to me! my Nikon Coolpix L18 broke at the end of November on the day of my niece's 16th birthday party, and of course I wanted my camera for that, so my fiancee reminded me we had a 2 year warranty (which expires Dec. 24th 2010, this month!!) so I got a new camera right before my warranty was about to expire! And for the same price as my old L18, I "upgraded" to a L22 that has a food setting. YAY! like you though, I NEED a dslr.... one day, one day we will have our dslrs!!!

  11. Thanks for all your comments and info about the cameras. I plan to do my research so that one day when we are available to afford a dslr I'll know which one to get.
MommyGlow and Janeen and LMaM: Yes you are right, Shawn T does not mess around. It's tough but do-able. I will keep you posted after each Fit Test.
Rania: I see what you mean by needing two cameras. My husband has been trying to explain that to me for a while now. He says that I'm not going to want to bring around a huge camera for everyday pics.
    MsBabyPlan: thx for the award
Rhonda: You are the best. Thanks for the motivation.
Monique: 2 SLR's in one household--that's awesome. No one you have great pix on your blog.
Teresha: I do love those unexpected blessings and I'm so thankful for them
Vickdn: thanks for stopping by. So glad you left a comment or otherwise I wouldn't be able to find your blogs (for some reason).
